JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The Speech and Language Specialist will assess, diagnose, and treat speech related disorders. The Speech and Language Specialist will develop and implement individual education programs for elementary aged students.
Candidate must have a Speech Language Specialist Standard Certificate and be able to pass a NJDOE criminal history background check and a drug screening.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Identifies and determines eligibility for students with speech, language, and/or hearing problems through screening and diagnostic evaluation.
Follows state mandated and district guidelines for referral, assessment, and placement in speech and language therapy.
Develops an individual education plan for each student based on assessment needs, including annual goals and specific objectives.
Plans, schedules and implements therapy programs to assist identified students with improvement in speech and language deficit areas.
Confers with parents, classroom teachers, Child Study Team members, school nurse and other professionals.
Maintains appropriate records on assessment, therapy progress, and IEP timelines for caseload.
Provides information for all district, county, and state reports when requested.
Maintains professional competence through attendance at district professional development.
Provides resource information to teachers and parents as needed.
Collaborates and cooperate as an active participant in the Child Study Team.
Establishes and maintains an orderly, positive, and safe learning environment.
Ability to understand and adhere to, interpret, and apply District policies and procedures.
Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of employee, student, and other sensitive District information.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
