March Madness is here, and we are marching right along! As we move closer to spring, our students continue to “bloom” academically, and we could not be more proud of their growth.
Benchmark assessments, classroom projects, and daily instruction all have steady progress. Our staff continues to analyze student data, adjust instruction, and provide enrichment and support where needed. It is inspiring to see students challenge themselves, ask thoughtful questions, and celebrate their achievements. The hard work is truly paying off!
While the snow brought a little winter "magic", it also caused two snow days that impacted our school calendar. As a result, adjustments will be made to SPRING BREAK to ensure we meet our required instructional days. Updated calendar information will be shared with families shortly so everyone can plan accordingly. We appreciate your flexibility even when the forecast throws us a curveball!
With spring just around the corner, we will continue to focus on academic growth, positive school culture, and preparing our students for a strong finish to the school year.
Let’s make this a marvelous March!

Small group instruction at WHES is a teaching approach where students are divided into smaller, focused groups based on skill level, learning needs, or specific goals. Instead of teaching the entire class the same lesson at the same pace, the teacher works closely with a small number of students to provide targeted instruction, guided practice, and immediate feedback.
This approach allows teachers to better differentiate learning. Students who need extra support can receive reteaching and scaffolding, while those ready for enrichment can be challenged at a deeper level. In a small group setting, students are often more comfortable asking questions, participating in discussions, and practicing new skills without the pressure of a whole-class audience.
The benefits of small group instruction include increased student engagement, stronger academic growth, and more personalized learning. Teachers are able to closely monitor progress, quickly address misunderstandings, and build stronger relationships with students. As a result, students gain confidence, develop independence, and make measurable progress toward grade-level standards.

Reminder: Students should come to school dressed appropriately for the weather. Please make sure your child wears a warm jacket each day, as temperatures have been consistently low during morning arrival and recess. Students may use any entrance during arrival.
Additionally, to help keep traffic flowing smoothly, please do not park in the designated drop-off zones during ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL. This area is reserved for quick drop-offs only. When dropping your child off in the morning, please do not exit your vehicle while in the drop off zones. Please use the Fire Hall parking lot or street parking if needed.
Thank you!

What do you love about WHES?
What I love most about teaching at WHES is the strong relationships that develop between staff & students, staff & parents/families, and among co-workers. Watching these connections grow and leave a lasting impact over time is truly inspiring. Most of all, seeing our incredible teachers and support staff make a meaningful difference in a child's life is deeply rewarding.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my husband and three children, attending my kids' college swim meets, enjoying my weekly lunch date with my mom, going on long walks, baking, and playing board games.

What do you love about WHES?
I truly love working at WHES because it feels like so much more than just a workplace—it feels like home. The students and families feel like they’re family to me, and that sense of connection makes every day meaningful. I really enjoy the people I work with, and I’m grateful to be surrounded by such supportive and caring colleagues. I also love seeing my children every day and being part of their growth and learning. On top of that, our administration is awesome and always supportive, which makes it an even more positive and inspiring place to be.
When I'm not teaching I'm generally a taxi for my kids Blake, Challen and Tess. I take them to all of their sports and activities. I also love to nap, eat sushi, read books, listen to podcasts & cook!
